Bio

Bernardo has more than 15 years of private investment experience, primarily in growth capital investing. He has a successful investment track record, having deployed capital in diverse and related areas of Clean Technology, namely energy and manufacturing efficiency, water technology, sensors, IT, software, transportation and business services. Before joining Expansion Capital Partners in 2003, Bernardo was a Senior Vice President at GE Equity, the private equity arm of the General Electric Company for over six years. Bernardo managed GE Equity?s Enterprise Solutions Group and co-managed the Technology & Communications Group, where he completed growth-stage investments in 35 companies totaling more than $280 million in deployed capital. Prior to joining GE Equity in 1996, Bernardo was a Senior Manager with Sara Lee Corporation in Chicago where he focused on strategic planning and M&A. Prior to business school, Bernardo worked in private equity in London for three years at Security Pacific Hoare Govett Equity Ventures and Schroder Ventures, where he was involved in leveraged buyout transactions across a wide variety of industry sectors. Bernardo currently sits on the boards of Biorem [TSX: BRM.V], Powerit Holdings and Tiger Optics. Bernardo holds a BA in Engineering Sciences from Dartmouth College, a Diploma in Accounting & Finance from the London School of Economics and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Business Administration, at Northwestern University.
