David Smoot

Bio

David Smoot is Chief Investment Officer at DIC. As CIO he is responsible for overseeing and managing the acquisition, monitoring and exit of investments in Private Equity (Europe and Middle East) and Public Equities. David has a 14 year track record in the banking and private equity industry. Of these, 11 years were spent at Morgan Stanley where he was most recently a Managing Director and co-founder of the Private Equity Group. He led portfolio investments in retail and aerospace and was responsible for building a team of thirty five professionals in New York and London. Prior to that role, David was Managing Director, Financial Sponsors, at Morgan Stanley where he advised clients including Bain Capital, Blackstone, First Reserve and Warburg Pincus on M&A, IPOs, and debt and equity financings. Prior to his tenure at Morgan Stanley, David spent three years at Salomon Brothers, where he specialised in energy and chemicals investment banking. David is a board member of various DIC owned companies such as Doncasters, Alliance Medical, Mauser AG, Almatis and Ishraq. David is a graduate of Harvard Law School and Duke University and a member of the New York Bar.
