John A. (Tony) Mayer, Jr, currently serves on Expansion Capital Partners' Board of Directors. He is the retired managing director and chief executive officer of J.P. Morgan Capital Corporation, and was elected chairman of the $2B Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation Board of Trustees in September 2003. He is currently a venture investor and partner in Cove Harbor Partners, based in Stamford, Connecticut. During his distinguished career with J.P. Morgan, Mayer held a variety of positions, both internationally and domestically. In 1979, Mayer was assigned to lead Morgan's entry into Euromarket securities underwriting, sales and trading, heading the firm's London-based securities subsidiary until 1986. He then returned to Morgan's New York headquarters and became a senior member of Morgan's Mergers and Acquisitions group. In 1990, Mayer was named head of global investment banking. He became chief financial officer of the parent company in 1995, and then took his CEO role of J.P. Morgan Capital, the firm's private equity business, in June 1996. A graduate of Princeton University, Mayer earned a master's degree in business administration from Harvard Business School in 1964.
